According to Scripture, we have been elected by the free will of God to be His people. His election of us as his people is based totally on his mercy. The apostle Peter exhorted believers to be even more diligent to make our call and election sure. Every believer has a place in the body of Christ and in that place, they must answer the call upon their lives. A life of peace is contingent upon answering the call to worship, witness, and work.
There is only one of two responses to the call of God. One response is obedience and the other, disobedience. No one can run from the call. In the case of Jonah, it appeared that he was running from God but according to Scripture, he was living in disobedience. God's persistence nullified his efforts to escape the presence of the Lord.
Connect with one of our congregations and answer the call of God to worship God in spirit and in truth, to witness to Christ in word and deed, and to work for the Kingdom.
The Gospel Call is a Call to Worship
To turn from sin, and call upon the name of the Lord. In the book of Acts, those who received the word immediately joined themselves with the apostles. The Scripture states that "they continued in the apostles’ teaching and praising God from house to house" (Acts 2:47).
The Gospel Call is a Call to Witness
To proclaim to the world in word and deeds the good things God has done for you. After Jesus healed the Gadarene demoniac, Jesus said to him Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you. And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled (Mark 5: 19-20).
The Gospel Call is a Call to Work
To serve the Lord and His people as Jesus did. It is written in Ephesians 2: 10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” The early church carried out ministry as a priesthood of believers. Serving the Lord and His Christ benefits others and honors God.
