Our Beliefs

The Apostle's Creed: I believe in GOD the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in JESUS CHRIST, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. The third day He arose from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty: from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the HOLY SPIRIT, the CHURCH UNIVERSAL, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sin, the RESURRECTION of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

We Are a People of Faith: The Apostle's Creed is a profession of faith and relationship which encapsulates our specific doctrinal beliefs from which we practice our faith. The Apostle’s Creed states the relationship which exists between God the Father to His Son. Then it states the relationship between believers with each other and with God the Father and God the Son. Alister McGrath affirms that: "The core of the Christian faith is a person, not a set of abstract ideas or beliefs." It is the person of God as revealed in His Son our Lord Jesus Christ that governs our words and our action and as we live out his will for our personal lives and His Church.

God the Father: There is only but one, true, and living God. He is spirit and without body parts or passions and He is everywhere present, all knowing, and all powerful. He is eternal in all His being, perfect and pure in all His ways and works. He is all wise, most holy, and unchangeable. He is loving, gracious, merciful, long-suffering, and forgiving. We believe God is the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ and He is the Creator of this world and He holds the world in His hand, and He works all things to the good pleasure of His will and for the benefit of His people.

The Lord Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. He was born of the Virgin Mary as the Scripture says, he took on humanity and through Him, God himself entered the human experience to save us from our sins. Jesus Christ lived as a human being on earth in complete obedience to His heavenly Father. We believe Jesus Christ died as our substitute, as the Scripture says, and God raised Him from the dead and has given Him a place far above all powers and principalities. God raised Him up, and exalted Him to His own right hand, that He might be the head over all things to the Church. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only means to God the Father and without him, humanity is eternally lost. He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

The Holy Spirit: According to John 16:8, the Holy Spirit will convict the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. The work of the Spirit enters mysteriously in the act of faith in Christ. When a soul enters into the sphere of salvation, he is born of the Spirit or regenerated. The regeneration affected by the Holy Spirit results in the person possessing a new nature, a new experience, and new security in Christ. The presence of the Spirit is the seal of God until the day of redemption.

The Church: The Church is the whole assembly of those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as prescribed in Scripture. It consists of the whole number of the elect of God that have been, are, and shall be gathered into one through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. The visible church consists of all those throughout the world from every tongue, nation, and gender who confess Jesus as Lord and Savior. It is the visible church that has been called out of the world to minister to God in worship and minister to the saints in nurture, and to minister to the world in witness.

The Holy Scripture: We believe that the Bible is the revelation of God of Himself and His plan of salvation for the world. We believe it is without error in its original autographs, without any intent to deceive, and that it contains all things which are essential for knowing God through Jesus Christ and no one is bound to perform any acts of salvation which it does not teach or has not demonstrated.

Justification: God has declared righteous all who place confess their sins and place faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for their salvation. This gift is a free act of God without any contribution from the repentant.

Saving Faith: Grace is an act of God whereby He gives a measure of faith to anyone based upon His free choice to do so. No one is deserving of this gift, but God acts out of His own free will and love toward a people who are unable to move toward Him. By this faith, a person believes God’s testimony of Himself through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Original Sin: Adam and Eve were the first parents of humans. However, their disobedience to God’s command brought sin into the world and through sin, death. Sin is a transgression against God in words, thoughts, and deeds. All sinned in Adam and as a result, all are born separated from God and need a Redeemer.
